2018 is filled to the brim with so many new and amazing books coming out! I don’t ever think there was another year that I was this excited for all the new releases that I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on. My wallet is really gonna hate me so much lol.
1) Everless by: Sarah Holland (Release Date: Jan 2, 2018)
Ever since I heard talk of this book I have been ridiculously excited for it to come out. I was so fortunate enough to receive and ARC of this book, and it was absolutely amazing! The thing I loved most about this book is the time element. In the kingdom of Sempra, time is their currency and it is taken from their blood and turned into blood irons. I will link my review as soon as it goes up.
2) Batman: Nightwalker by: Marie Lu (Release Date: Jan 2, 2018)
When I found out that there were going to be books out based on DC Comic heroes I became ecstatic. I grew up reading those comics and desperately wanted books with the characters I had grown up loving. I received and ARC of this copy, but I haven’t been able to read it yet, but when I do you can bet I’ll post a review.
3) Gunslinger Girl by: Lyndsay Ely (Release Date: Jan 2, 2018)
Last year at BookCon I got the opportunity to meet Lyndsay and get a signed ARC of this book. This is another book that I have not had the chance to read yet, but the fact that it is a YA western set in the future has my inner cowgirl bursting with joy! I need more shootouts at high noon and horseback riding through the wilderness.
4) Unearthed by: Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner (Release Date: Jan 9, 2018)
As of right now the only books I have read by either of these authors is Illuminae and Gemina, but I do own the whole Starbound trilogy and plan to read it soon. If those two books give me any indication how this sci-fi novel will be, HOLY CRAP, I need to read it!! I’m a huge fan of sci-fi and this book just sounds like it is going to be absolutely amazing.
5) Obsidio by: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (Release Date: March 13, 2018)
This book. I don’t even know where to start. This is the third and final book in the Illuminae Files series. Illuminae and Gemina ripped my heart out and put it back together in pieces so I know this book will do the same. I’m so nervous to see how the series ends, but after the ending of Gemina I desperately need to get a copy of this book in my hands so I can find out what happens. I’m really hoping that Amie and Jay do more books together because I don’t know if I could handle them not putting out any more great books like these.
6) Sky In the Deep by: Adrienne Young (Release Date: April 24, 2018)
I was so very lucky to get a copy of this book while at Yallfest last year. I have not had a chance to read it, but it is very close to the top of my TBR pile. The thing that really intrigued me about this book is the little snippet on the back cover: “Eelyn’s world is war. Raised to fight in a generations-old blood feud, her life changes forever when she sees her brother on the battlefield, fighting side by side with the enemy. The brother she watched die five years ago.” If that doesn’t make you interested in this book I don’t what will.
7) Ash Princess by: Laura Sebastian (Release Date: April 24, 2018)
At first the drop dead gorgeous cover is what really drew me to this book, but as I read more and more about it I just knew that I had to get it when it did come out. Thanks to some amazing people I was able to get and ARC of this book in a trade. I cannot wait to dive into it and let y’all know my thoughts on it!
8) Furyborn by: Claire Legend (Release Date: May 22, 2018)
I wanted this book in the worst way possible, and as soon as I saw that I had missed out on an exclusive Fairyloot copy (gosh darn tiny budget!) I knew I had to try to trade with somebody. While trying to trade I got a little panicky on if I would actually receive the book or not and I ended up doing a few trades and got two copies of the book (oops! lol). So now that I have the book I can’t wait to get to it. Plus the hardcover comes out a few days before my birthday, so guess who’s got two thumbs and is treating herself to this massive book. Me! 🙂
9) Contagion by: Erin Bowman (Release Date: July 24, 2018)
If you have been around a bit you may already know about my love for Erin and her work, but I may have gone a little overboard with how excited I was that this book is coming out. I absolutely adored Vengeance Road and Retribution Rails. I can’t wait to see how Erin’s writing changes from her westerns to sci-fi. I am a bit nervous though because I have high hopes for this book and I really don’t want to be disappointed. I cannot thank my friends enough for the ARC copy that I got given to me!! I seriously have the best friends in the whole wide world! I was hyperventilating and crying as I opened the package and saw this beauty inside.
10) These Rebel Waves by: Sara Raasch (Release Date: Aug 7, 2018)
A few years back Sara wrote one of my most favorite trilogies to date, and when I found out that she had another book coming out this year I immediately knew I needed it in my hands no matter what. I watched Sara’s Insta Stories as she was working on this book and OMG! I need to read it like yesterday!! I’m so happy that again I have an ARC of this book so I can get to it fairly quickly!
11) The Towering Sky by: Katharine McGee (Release Date: Aug 28, 2018)
When I first started The Thousandth Floor series last year I never expected to love it as much as I do now. I’m not big on drama, but this series left me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens with who. This book is the third and final book in the series. I’m so excited to get my hands on it, but I’m also very sad the series is coming to an end. I’m going to miss these characters dearly.
12) Queen of Air and Darkness by: Cassandra Clare (Release Date: Dec 4, 2018)
I’ve read Lady Midnight twice now, but I have been holding off on Lord of Shadows because I knew how long of a wait I would have for this hunk of a book. Cassandra Clare is definitely up there on my list of favorite authors and she just keeps getting better and better with each book that she writes. Lady Midnight was one of the best books I have read by her so I can only imagine how mind blowingly amazing this book will be when I get my hands on it. I don’t know how much longer I can wait!
There are so many more books I could talk about, but this list would be miles long. I feel as if I’ve rambled enough for one post lol. Let me know in the comments what books you are most excited for this year!
