March Wrap Up ’18

I’m really sorry this is coming out so last in the month.  Things have been absolutely crazy the past few weeks between work and getting announced as a co-blogger on Cornerfolds!  Anyways let’s get to the books I read last month!

1) Crossed by: Ally Condie 3/5 Stars

This is the second book in the Matched trilogy.  This book for me definitely had the second book slump.  I didn’t really care for it as the book seemed to drag and had all the stereotypical second book aspects.  I wasn’t a big fan and it made me realize why I don’t really read dystopian anymore.

2) Reached by: Ally Condie 3/5 Stars

This book was definitely better than the second one, but I still had its quirks.  I’m glad that I finally finished this series, but in a way I could’ve just left it at the first book and been completely fine with that.

3) The Radical Element edited by: Jessica Spotswood 4/5 Stars

My whole reason for wanting to read this book was because my favorite author, Erin Bowman, had written a short story in it.  But each and every one of these short stories were amazing!  I loved getting to read through the different decades and see how women struggled with many different things at different points in history.  There was one story that confused me a bit until I realized it had a fantasy element where the rest of the stories didn’t.  Other than that, I absolutely loved this book!

4) The Way the Light Bends by: Cordelia Jensen 4/5 Stars

I was asked to read and review this book for Penguin Random House, and I immediately jumped at the chance and I’m really glad I did.  I connected with the main character so much so that it almost hurt.  I struggled a bit in school, but had a lot of art interests that had to be put on the back burner to make way for school.  I also struggled with no one in my immediate family liking the same hobbies that I did just like she did.  I wish my 15-year-old self had gotten to read this book because she would’ve probably thought that someone was directly writing about her life.  And if you love cameras and photography you will love this book.  you can read my full review here.

5) The Diabolic by: S.J. Kincaid 4/5 Stars

I had this book on my shelf for a while now, but I knew I wouldn’t have time to pick it up so I borrowed the audiobook from my library to listen to while I drove to and from work.  It reminded me a lot of The Cruel Prince just set in space which I think is why I ended up liking it so much.  I really cannot wait to get to the second book to see what happens next!

6) Daughter of Smoke and Bone by: Laini Taylor 4/5 Stars

I DID IT!  I finally did it!  I read this book!  It has been on my shelf for the longest time, and I cannot tell you how many times people have told me to read this book.  I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count!  Well now I finally read it!  Laini’s writing is so unique and interesting.  I’m hoping to get my review for this book up sometime in the next week or so.

I had a really great reading month last month!  Honestly I really surprised myself with how many books I read since its been a while since I’ve read that many books in one month.

What books did you get to read in March?
