Lately I have been tossing around the idea of doing book recaps. I haven’t really seem too many people do them so I’m not sure as if it would even be something that people would be interested in reading.
Through the years of me blogging I have gotten a few ARCs of first books in a series which I read and review. But being that they are ARCs I read them almost a year and a half to a year prior to the next book coming out, so by then I have almost no recollection of what happened in the first book. Then I end up in this mad spiral of having to read books over to then read the next book when I really should be reading other books that I have been sent to review.
A good majority of my reviews are spoiler free and they don’t really list out all of the major events that happened in the book. So I could go back and read my reviews, but I really won’t get too much from them and would still be lost in some way when I got to pick up the next book.
I know that doing recap posts will help me immensely, but again, I’m not sure if it would be something that other people would want to read. Of course the recap posts would be spoilery as they would contain all the events of the book(s) and I will remind people at the top of each post of that fact. I would like to post the recaps within a month of the next book coming out so that people can either choose to read the recap or reread the book in general.
I already have notes of a couple recent books that I have read and would like to write recaps for, so I guess I am just looking to get everyone’s opinion before I go posting them to my blog. In fact I really should post a could of the recaps in the next week or so as the next book comes out next month.
Would you read recap posts if I post them?
Definitely do it! Recap posts are fun to read 🙂

A couple book series actually have recaps online you can read. So I’m sure that people would read yours if you did them since not all seires have them. You would be able to talk to readers so much more on the actual plot its self without worring about spoiling anyone. I say go for it!

That was kind of my thoughts. Not every series I read has a recap so it kinda leaves me no choice but to reread the books. I definitely think I am going to start doing them!

I like this idea! I am one that usually re-reads books but I haven’t had time lately so I haven’t read Darkdawn or Courting Darkness. I was super excited for both books but I didn’t have time to re-read the rest of the series! When I read the GOT series back in college I used a wikipedia re-cap of the books so that I didn’t have to re-read them. It was the one and only time I did that, but maybe I should start reading re-caps as a more regular thing!

Rereadingbooks takes so much time! 😫. I wish I could just remember everything from every book I’ve ever read. But until that happens I think I will start doing the recap posts.

I’m always struggling to remember the details of a past read book. Recaps are definitely welcomed.
