April Wrap Up ’18

HOLY CRAP I read a lot this past month!!  I’m so proud of myself for getting through all of these books.  I have finally beat my nasty reading slump!

1) Not If I Save You First by: Ally Condie 2/5 Stars

I have a lot to say about this book….  I think I’m just gonna leave my thoughts to my review which will be posted within the next few days or so.

2) Days of Blood and Starlight by: Laini Taylor 3/5 Stars

I was able to listen to this audiobook while I was commuting to and from work.  I really was nervous going into this book because I didn’t want it to follow the second book slump.  Surprisingly it didn’t, but it still wasn’t as good as the first book, which is why I’m rating it as such.  The more I read of this series the more I love how different Laini’s writing style is.

3) Sky In the Deep by: Adrienne Young 3.5/5 Stars

This was a book that I got way back at Yallfest, but I wanted to wait to read it closer to the release date.  I had really high hopes for this book, but it kinda fell short.  I will write a review for this book, which I will tag here later, because I have a lot of thoughts on this book.

4) Dreams of Gods and Monsters by : Laini Taylor 4/5 Stars

I finally finished this series!  I always felt so intimidated by how big these books were, but they didn’t seem so bad in audiobook form.  I really enjoyed this series from beginning to end.  I absolutely love Laini’s writing and cannot wait to read more of her books in the future.

5) Bookish Boyfriends by: Tiffany Schmidt 4.5/5 Stars

This book is everything that my inner book nerd wanted!  If I had this book when I was 15 I would have been ecstatic.  You can read my full review here.

6) The Falconer by: Elizabeth May 5/5 Stars

This has to be one of my favorite books hands down.  I saw that it was in my library’s audiobook list so I just had to borrow it to read it again.  If you would like to read my full review on this book you can find it here.

7) 99 Days by: Katie Cotugno 2/5 Stars

This is another book that I was a little disappointed in.  There was some content in this book that really put me on edge and made me really dislike this book.  I really was bummed because I really wanted to like this book.  You can read my full review here

8) Everything, Everything by: Nicola Yoon 4/5 Stars

I’ve been really wanting to see the movie that was based on this book, but I had to read the book first.  This book was a really quick and fun read.  It reminded me a tad of The Fault In Our Stars.  And that ending really got me.

9) Ash Princess by: Laura Sebastian 5/5 Stars

I LOVED this book!!  I was really looking forward to reading this book ever since I was able to get an ARC of this book.  I went into this book a little nervous because I desperately wanted to like this book.  It was so good!  Keep an eye out for my review which will be posted soon.

I still can’t believe I got to this many books last month.  While some of them I didn’t care for, there were still a few that I really loved.

What are some of the books that y’all read in April?

10 Facts About Me

Hello, my name is Chelcie, and welcome to my blog.  As I am new to this and new to talking to all of you, I figured I would share some facts about me so you can get to know me better 🙂

  1. I am a book addict.  I’m sure as I continue with this blog this fact will become more and more prevalent.  I’m also hoping this blog will open the door to talk to many more book addicts like myself.
  2. My cat, Rex, is bae.  If you follow me on Instagram, Booknerdchelcie, you will come across a multitude of pictures featuring him.  He loves to lay with me and cuddle while I read.  Or he will lay in the most weirdest positions, and I just have to get a shot of him like that with a book.  And, yes, if you’d like to go ahead and follow me so you can see more posts of him and some of my many books.
  3. Maggie Stiefvater is my favorite author.  I will warn you now that I will talk a lot about her and her amazing books.  This May, I am actually planning on going to one of her signings on the Raven King book tour.  Yes, you will hear all about it over and over and over again.  #sorrynotsorry
  4. I make crafts out of duct tape.  for the past few years I have made things such as wallets, hair bows, coin pouches, and, most recently, bookmarks out of duct tape.  I even created a duct tape “painting” of Ana and Elsa for my friend’s daughter’s birthday (it was essentially a large canvas covered with a picture made out of duct tape).  I sell a bunch of these crafts in my Storenvy shop.  If you’re a crazy book lover check out my bookmarks.  I’ve taken a lot of inspiration for the designs from books I’ve read.
  5. I currently own 5 horses.  Since I was 4, I’d always waned to have a horse and be a horse trainer one day.  I got my first horse right before I turned 14 and acquired the rest within the past 2 years.  My newest horse is in Texas right now and I’m going to use her for a horse training clinic I’m attending in May.  Then she’ll come up here so I can take jumping lessons.
  6. I sneeze when I have milk.  This is probably the most random fact on this list.  Don’t ask me how or why as it has baffled me since it started.  No, I am not allergic to milk, I just sneeze when I have it.
  7. love photography.  Throughout high school and college I took a plethora of photography courses in both darkroom and digital.  Last summer I purchased a Canon T5 Rebel, and many of the pictures you will see posted here are taken with that camera.  I love the camera to death, but it can get annoying carrying around the ginormous camera bag it comes with.
  8. One day I want to be a New York Times Bestselling Author.  From the time I could write I have been jotting down little stories or scenes as I like to call them.  One of these days I will have wrangle up the ideas in my head and string the scenes together and create a book or multiple books.
  9. Give me fish snacks and I will love you forever.  Goldfish or Swedish fish work best for gaining my love 🙂
  10. Brett Eldredge is my all time favorite singer.  While my music taste ranges from Disney to Punk Rock, Brett is still top of the list.  I have seen him twice in concert and plan on seeing him many more times, hopefully front row one of these times.

Well, there you have it.  Now that you have seen a bit into the life of Chelcie, I hope to be able to get to know all of you more.  I can’t wait to continue this blog and see where it takes me in the months to come 🙂
